About us

ABOUT US

We are a group of normal people, young and old, male and female, of all backrounds, who have been brought together by love - God's love for each one of us. We believe that God loves each of us so much and that he has a plan for each of us. Each one of us has failings, but we believe that God's love is greater.  Here we thank God for his amazing love and try to live out our lives in response to that love.

We are all disciples, learning together, teaching each other, and serving God and those around us.

Each one of us has been uniquely created by God, and every single person within our church has a very important role to play. From the youngest to the oldest, from the person who stands at the front of the church to the person that hoovers the carpets, we all contribute to the ministry and mission of the church.

We also have a team of individuals who undertake particular roles to help suport the work of the whole church.

"'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbour as yourself.'" (Matthew 28:37-39 NLT)

We are committed as a church, individually and together, to living out these two commandments here in Bishop Auckland.

Jesus is the reason we gather, and the good news we share. To find out more about Jesus, why not get in touch or come and meet us. In the meantime you can find out more about God, Jesus, and his amazing love for you here: https://christianity.org.uk/

The 'church' is the people. When we gather together and when we are apart, we are all 'the church'.

And as the church in Bishop Auckland, we are fortunate to have two historic church buildings, which support our mission and ministry.

St Andrew's is a large medival church, located to the south-east of the town in South Church.

St Anne's is a smaller Victorian church, located in the town's Market Place.
